Hey, Jase...
<snip> Is the head gasket a shadetree do-it-yourself item, or is it pretty
much a
dealer repair?<snip>
While I consider myself a little more than "shadetree" class, & I don't know
your actual mechanical skill levels,
I think you could handle a head gasket...
I did my first one on my 68 'Cuda, when I was about 23, & had a whole lot
less knowledge than I do now...
Granted, engines - especially slant-6s - were fairly simple then...
The main thing I found - without a manual - is to have adequate shelf/floor
space for all the stuff ya gotta remove,
& either colored twist-ties or golf tees for IDing wires & hoses (red-red;
yellow-yellow; etc.)
As ya take something out, set it on the shelf/floor - starting at ONE END -
& continue around the room...
To reassemble: start at the OTHER END...
That's an extremely non-technical bit of info, but it worked for me...
