Trace it back to where it grounds on the trailer, and make sure you have
continuity through the wire from the connector to the grounding point.
Also, try cleaning up the grounding point to make sure you have a good
ground to the trailer frame.
Try the same on the truck, as well.
I'd put money on one of those two connections being the culprit.
