My gauge is mounted inside the truck, on the A pillar. I don't know if
anybody has made a GenII gauge pod yet, but my gauge pod is essentially a
few pieces of 2" PVC, cut to fit up against the windsheild, its held in place
with some heavy duty velcro on the top of the dash and on the A pillar. If
you are just mounting the gauge in the engine bay, some gauges will actually
come with some mounting hardware, so you might have all you need in the box,
or you may need to do some mild fabrication. It really depends on where
you decide to mount it, etc. there are a whole bunch of possibilities.
Regarding mounting a mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the cab, what
you can do is to use a device that isolates the fluid being measured from
the fluid that comes inside the cab. So basically you plumb your fuel
test port up to this device (I would guess it has a diaphragm inside),
and on the other side of the device and running to the gauge is plain
ol' antifreeze. That way, if the line breaks inside the cab, all it
does is to leak a little antifreeze instead of fuel. IIRC, this type
of arrangement is an NHRA requirement, if you are going to be racing.
Its also a lot safer than running fuel into the driver's compartment,
for obvious reasons. :-) This wouldn't be necessary if you are leaving
the pressure gauge in the engine bay though.
As far as a picture of my plumbing goes, the only one I can find is at:
http://www.steigerperformance.com/docs/MPIIntakeManifoldInstallationGuide.pdf
The picture on the bottom of page 12 shows how the electric fuel
pump sender is mounted to my fuel rail. The picture on the top of
page 3 shows the location of the schraeder valve, without the sender
attached. If you'd like a better pic, let me know and I'll try to
take a couple with my digital camera and e-mail them to you.
