Maybe a slightly loose A arm bolt, (near the top of the front shock mount).
I had to tighten the heck out of mine, its like a one inch nut.

My friend has a 2000 4x4 5.9 Durango with 80k miles, and it's making a
loud noise from the front end. Makes it especially when going over road
perfections. He describes the sound like this:

the sound is a banging lil popping and sometimes sounds like a cracking
and squeaking sound.

Recall on Ball joints done last summer as that was my first thought. No
"feel" from it though, just noise.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

TIA guys.
