diy throttle body polish

A few years ago one of you arranged for me to get a great deal on a new TB. I
planned a diy polish, but got busy and so on, so the spare is still in the box.
My 318 is stock, and although I'm seriously itching to have it sound and run
like the 340 cid in my "72 Dart (mid 10s) I don't have a suitable garage, am
busy, and the truck runs flawlessly whenever I need it. Blah blah blah.

Still, should I polish the spare TB and install it? Or sell it? Is it worth
it? Will it mess with the killer relaibility of a vehicle I use only now and
again? If I do the work I'll smooth the bores and so on but am a bit reluctant
to whittle away at the shaft. (While building a 289, my bro managed to cause
it to swallow a screw or check ball, so I got a bad vision here.) Probably the
only other mod will be the large diameter 92-93 manifolds or a not-too-loud cat
back.

thoughts?

Oh yeah, are 5.2L 4x4s generally faster than (my bud's) 4.7 L 4x4?

Cheers
