It was indeed; great post. :-) I agree with your speculation on the
'91 changeover. I was about to post the same thing before I saw that you
beat me to it. :-) I can see how someone who isn't bombarded with daily
Dak trivia like ourselves would probably assume that the GenI/GenII
sheetmetal change was supposed to correspond with the TBI to MPI change.
I'm guessing the wrecker that was referred to came across a few '91s
which have the TBI motor of course, and just assumed they were '92s
because of the new sheetmetal. With Ma Mopar, you never say never, but
this explanation seems a *lot* more likely than actually having '92 model
year Daks with TBI motors. Oh, and regarding the Rams, the '91 model
year would indeed have been TBI. Just like the Dakota, the 1992 model
was the first to get TBI, however that was only on the 318. The 360
Rams still had TBI in 1992. It wasn't until the 1993 model year that
the 360 was Magnumized. So that may have been contributing to the
wrecker's confusion - the 318 and 360 are very similar in size and
appearance, so for somebody who isn't in the know, it would be easy
to assume that there was a mix of TBI and MPI during the 1992 model
year in the Ram line.

Oh, and regarding the fuel system, Ray already covered this for the
'92 in question, but just as an additional data point, 1994 was the
model year that switched to the returnless fuel system.
