Awesome, good fix. I quit using reman water pumps just for that reason.
Too much hassle to replace.

Subject: DML: belt squeal - solved

I borrowed a friend's garage Friday night to take a look at what was going
on
with the Dak that was causing the belt squeal. Tension on the belt seemed
good but I swapped tensioners anyway (I had already picked one up) to make
sure. That wasn't it so we put the original back on.

Upon further investigation I noticed that the remanufactured water pump I
put
on last weekend was dripping again. It was coming out the weep hole this
time
instead of between the gasket. There was all sorts of shaft play and the
bearings felt really terrible in addition to making a little noise when I
turned the impeller by hand. The pulley also seemed a little cockeyed, it
was being pulled by the belt and that in combination with the weeping of
coolant is what was causing the squeal.

I picked up a brand new pump and popped that on Sunday afternoon, along with
another new belt. Problem solved. It only took me about 45 minutes to swap
the pump, after 3 times I'm getting pretty good at it.
