OK here is my take from a failed marriage, mine......
Met a girl when I was stationed in Guam (pardon the french but I brought 2 bitches home from Guam - I kept the one with 4 legs {we're still together}), we did the live together thing for a few years, I got stationed in the ROK, and we decided to get married. We went back to Guam to visit her folks, had dinner with them, told them we were getting hitched, they were ok with it.
I was seriously into the Hash House Harriers back then(drinking club with a running problem...seems the Dak BBQ is a similar thing.... questions about this venerable organization mail me privately) and one of our fellow Hashers was a mail order minister.
Long story short we got married after a Hash run only cost was for the marriage license.
Lasted another 4 years, then I goaded her into attacking me with witnesses present, she spent the after noon @ the Cross Bar Hilton, divorce cost me next to nothing!!!!
Later she called asking for $$ to go home knowing how bad she was with money and that she had no sense of time it was the perfect investment, for another $1500 I was able to trap her about 14 time zones away.
