Masonite is like pressed paper board. You'd expect to pay less than $3 for
a
2'x4'x¼" sheet, which would be more than enough to create the 4 rings you'd
need.

I installed custom stereos for 5 years, never used those things. I tried a
set from scosche once and my speakers didn't fit because the baskets were
too
large. I finally ended up giving them away because they wouldn't hold any
speaker I tried to fit in there.

Masonite is extremely cheap and it will get the job done just as well. (not
to mention it's always the right size) I've used it for all sorts of things
and it's always held up fine. The only drawback is that you have to use
more
agressive threaded screws or you won't be able to tighten them enough, which
will result in rattling over time.
