My father's Durango must be north of 75K by now and is on the original
sensor as well. I never had to replace mine in the nearly 60K I had
my '99, nor the 38K I had my '03.

My father & I also managed to escape the widespread early battery
death that hit a lot of '99 and '00 Daks & Durangos.

It does seem like an odd part to fail at the rates we've seen.
