My wifes 03 PT Cruiser has been throwing a P0304 (mis-fire in cylinder 4) code
(runs fine). I did the obvious things like new plugs, change wires use some
injector cleaner but the code would always come back within a week.
Figured it was a fuel thing and didn't want to dig into it that far with it
still being under warranty so I took it back to the dealer to have them look at
it.
Well a rodent (mouse) built a nest down between the intake and the head right
where the injector wiring is and chewed on the harness to injector 4. This
doesn't constitute a warranty issue and the dealer wants over $500 to fix it!!
Payed his $89.50 diagnostic fee and will take care of it with my sodering iron
and $0.50 worth of heat shrink tubing.
Interestingly enough I had been commenting to my wife about the tiny little
tracks running across the driveway and under the cars after a dusting of snow.
Guess I will need to put a box of Decon under the hood. Wonder if Autozone
carries it! ;)
