I don't know about the Auto Xray, but I have used Actron's other units
before and have found them ... eh.. lacking...

The CP9145 is Actrons new flag ship... allowing use on OBDI and II Ford,
GM, and Chryslers. The unit uses 4 cables, an OBDII standard, and one
each for the proproitary connectors that the Big Three used for OBDI
systems.

I did not know that you had to buy upgrades from them. However,
consider what you will be using the unit on/for. If you are only going
to use it on your own cars/trucks - for which it should already be
programmed for... then you won't need to worry about updates (usually).
If you are going to keep using it on new model year cars/trucks as
they are released... then you might want to go with a model that can be
updated with less hassle/cost.

$200 for the Actron CP9145 is pretty good IF it comes with all three
cables? Considering the more basic CP9135 retails for around $150, it
sounds like the $200 price is for the unit without the optional OBDI
adapters. The CP9145 was selling in the $250-$300 range at AutoZone for
the unit with all the cables, if I remember correctly.
