Since everyone's asking, here's my 2 cents. Driven the interstates LOTS
over the past several years E. of Colo....

IMHO, best bet is to take 80 all the way to Des Moines, then drop down 35 to
Kansas City. Easy expressway route through KC - get off 35 at highway 152 &
head W. 152 is a surface St. for a few miles, then opens up to an
expressway. Scoot all the way across the N side of town & pick up 435 on
the far side (you 1st cross 435 as the road opens up - ignore this & keep
going until you get to 435 again.) 435 S to 70 W & off you go.

70 W of 435 is the KS Turnpike to Topeka. (60 mi.) Haven't been on it for a
few years, but I seem to remember something around $1.25 to Topeka. Free
interstate all the way beyond.

Wisdom of this route is 2-fold:
1. You can get off 70 at Limon, take 24 into Colo Springs, & thus bypass
Denver (wise move)
2. On 24, you'll approach & go through Colo Springs past the I-25
construction there (even wiser move)

Attaching an updated direction sheet to Lone Duck once in the Springs.
Please refer to this version only & disregard one you may have cabbaged onto
elsewhere (I boo-boo'd a turn on the original - sheesh!)

To connect to the attached if approaching from Limon:
Follow the signs for 24 through town. Very well marked. In a nutshell:
You'll drop south a bit on Powers, then...
R on Fountain to 25
25 N to Cimarron, then per the attached.

Any other advice needed? Happy to share.....

Makes it look like I-76 is the toll road until it meets with I-80.
