After reading a few more reviews I'm not so sure what I'd like to go with at
this point. I'm not a real fan of Uniden stuff but they're reviewing better
than the Cobra stuff I was looking at so it seems they're back in the
running.
This one seems to be quite full featured and right around $100 too, so that's
not too bad. The price and features are right, if it only had a black
faceplate....

Would it be worthwhile to step up to the 78 elite?

What about Galaxy? They have also been reviewing well. They're more
expensive but they look quite full featured.
I've noticed that some radios have adjustable or on/off for "talkback."
What's talkback?
Should I get a radio that does sidebands? Is there an advantage to that? SSB
is part of the 10-meter frequency range, is there an advantage to going with
a 10-meter radio over a conventional CB?

Okay, let's talk antennas. How long do I need? Should I go with a
fiberglass stick or a metal whip? Ground plane or not? Top, center, or base
loaded? What about the through-glass ones? What's the deal with those ones
that have the coils around them? I want something that'll perform well all
around and have a good range.
The "little wil" seems very nice. It's small (38") and has gotten good reviews.

This one is a little shorter too, is there really a difference? What does
length effect?

I've come across some radios that are self-tuning, what's the deal with that?
