a TPS for a shifting problem? that's a new one for me. usual symptom of

this sounds more like need of a trans flush or having the wrong fluid -
it's definitely being rough on torque converter lockup (which, by the way
Don, you seem to be misinterpreting as another shift. You have 4 speeds
and lockup when OD is on, 3 speeds and lockup when OD is off)
