Private sale, or dealer?

I recently got an '01 CC Sport, dark blue, grey int. 4WD, 94K miles, 3.9l,
5-spd, LSD rear, no hitch, no fog lights, no CD, manual windows, locks, and
mirrors, with CC and Tilt. Needed tires, and one rim replaced. Dealer started
at 12K. I started at 7K. After several phone conversations, and the usual
"talk to the manager" stuff, the sales guy wouldn't go below $8K, and I
wouldn't go above $7250, but the manager and I agreed at $7500.

I'd go less than $7500, personally, but I wouldn't buy a 2WD truck, so that's
maybe a point one way or the other depending on what you want. I wanted the
club cab, and the 5sp, with the 4WD, and that's a rare combo. Neither the
dealer nor I knew about the LSD beforehand, and I didn't care about the other
stuff. Given that yours has the 2WD, but only 55K miles, $7000-$7500 is
probably reasonable if not great from a private seller.
