No, 2000 was.

The (5)45RFE is a good transmission (difference between the 45RFE and
545RFE is a software update which gives it an extra forward gear.
Mechanically, they're the same). The same unit backs up the 3.7L V6,
4.7L V8 (regular and HO varieties) and the 5.7L HEMI in Ram HDs. I think
'00 and '01 have the 45RFE, and '02 up have the 545RFE (I may have those
years off a little).

Daks (in the range you're looking at) built up to 12/31/02 had a recall
issued for balljoints. If you're looking at anything older than a
mid-2003 model year, make sure this recall was performed, and if it
wasn't, either avoid the truck or make that repair a contingency of the
purchase.

There was a run of bad rear-ends IIRC in the '00-'02 timeframe as well,
but at this point, any truck you're looking at would have either been in
the clear from the beginning, or had the unit fixed.

I haven't heard nearly as many issues with the 4.7 as there were with
the 318. The first year of 4.7L Daks wasn't the first year of the 4.7 -
'99 Grand Cherokees had them, so it had a year to work out the kinks
before it hit the trucks.

Daks lug patterns are 6 on 4.5 , 92-04.

2000 was the last year with a lever-operated transfer case. 2001 and up
has a knob on the dash instead.

2003 introduced disc brakes on the rear axle and I found my '03 stopped
a LOT better than my '99, despite being a few hundred pounds heavier.
