Hey Tom!

The front driveshaft is still off the truck but it will be going on
tomorrow. I ran into difficulty with getting the boot to seat correctly
around the CV Centering item within the Double-Cardan Joint. I also had to
order a new CV Centering Ball after the fact when I found it was rusting
inside. The main problem with the boot was that it sort of snaps over a
piece that is welded onto the drive shaft (think a snap on a coat). I
didn't have the right diameter sleeve to press it on.

Since I needed to balance it (forgot how pieces were disassembled), I had a
shop finish the assembly, grease and balance for $70. I just got it back
yesterday.

As far as the rest of the truck, I never did get that weird "spoon clacking"
noise back that we heard while leaving new york. Must have been the belt
was a little loose and cranking on the tensioner helped that.

I did find that I broke something else. On both sides, the rear clamp that
hold the leaf spring clamps together snapped and whenever I hit a seam in
the road, it clunks. I think I also have something clunking in the front
end, but I need to wait until I get the new clamps on to see if what I'm
hearing is a dfferent noise.

BTW, I pulled a quart of mud and leaves out of the frame rails this last
weekend. Thsi came after an hour of powerwashing everything, then pulling
about 2 gallons of stuff from under the front air dam and other places in
November.

And it still stinks!
