A travel bug is part of Geocaching. Using GPS units to find hidden
"treasure" boxes. Surplus military ammo cans are common because they can
store a good amount of stuff and protect them from the weather. The can
also be virtual caches - basically taking a picture of yourself in front
of an object or locating a specific place (rock, light pole,
intersection, whatever)

Travel bugs are registered, tagged, and placed in the cache of your
choice. You choose its destination, and people who visit the Geocache
can pick up your travel bug and help it get where its going, by dropping
it off at a cache near their destination. For example, Walt found
"mikey" , a little one eyed green blob alien looking key chain thingy.

thats Mikey hanging around at another Geo cache in Colorado. He was
partying with The DML all week, and when the trip was over, Walt dropped
him off at a Cache in the area. I think Walt picked up Mikey prior to
Colorado, somewhere east, Mikey was trying to reach Utah, so Walt
brought him as far as Colorado.

Jon created travel bugs to represent the various models of Dodge
Dakotas, and patterned them after several members trucks. They are in a
race to see who gets back to or near, DML HQ out by Jon. The Gen II
bug, patterened after Ray Block's Gen II truck, made it a few miles from
Walt's house, where walt retrieved it!! just before sending it back all
the way to the opposite coast, to Califorina LOL

So we'll see what happens!
