RE: Variable RPMs

Nope...those are Injector #2 and #8 failure codes. Check the harness on the
passenger side of the engine (rear of the head) for a pinched or chaffed
wiring harness (seen that a few times). Also, check the voltages of those
two injectors with a DVOM. Put one terminal to ground (from the meter) and
the other to the driver side of the injector (at the connector - backprobe
it with a paperclip if you can). Start the engine and watch the voltage -
if it fluctuates replace the injector...if it doesn't - time to check the
wiring to the PCM or possibly replace the PCM.

With the TPS issue, you can easily check it with an analog voltmeter.
Connect the meter to the TPS signal wire and the other to ground and watch
the sweep of the needle. If it's smooth, no problem with the TPS. Don't
bother checking the TPS with a DVOM as they don't properly show the sweep at
all (not even recommended by DC to use a DVOM on that).

Subject: DML: Variable RPMs

On the way back from the coast this weekend my check engine light came on.
RPMs started flucuating, like it was dropping in and out of over drive.
Made it home and scanned it had P0202 and P0208, injector malfuntion. Have
done some research on the web and have come up with replacing the TPS. This
sound right?
