Something similar could no doubt be welded together in your
garage for much cheaper, and you could eliminate the crank
feature if you just had a little ramp for it (or a bike light
enough to muscle the front end in the air.)
The only things I'm not sure about though are wether this
method of towing would increase the bike's odometer (depends
on the bike I suppose), and wether this could cause any damage
to the trans (again, depends on the bike I suppose.) I guess
you could disconnect the chain and completely eliminate any
potential tranny problems. I had thought about buying or
building something like that many years ago, but my bike is
a shaft drive so its not quite as simple as removing a chain.
I suppose you could put the rear wheel of the bike in the
cradle if you were able to lock the forks in place, though it
seems like you'd need to get it just right to prevent the
bike from pulling to one side. Here's a system that gets the
rear wheel up off the ground, though I question the size of the
wheels and their ability to handle towing at speed:
