The North American parts content (percentage) of my "Japanese" Subaru
Outback is identical to that of my '99 and '03 Daks. It's also been of
much higher quality than either of those trucks. Especially when it
comes to the "touchpoints" - much better interior materials, and much
more user-friendly controls.

If it weren't for the size issue, our next vehicle would almost
certainly be a Subaru. Unfortunately, Subaru doesn't build anything that
meets our physical dimension requirements (sufficient front to back room
in the back seat for our baby seat to allow someone to ride in the front
passenger seat safely).

Toyota plays conservative for the most part. Build something that's
bland and you'll appeal to the widest possible audience. Go "edgy" and
you'll drive away a lot of customers. Build a conservative car that's
reliable and you should be printing money.
