DaimlerChrysler AG announced plans Wednesday morning to cut 13,000 jobs at the
Chrysler Group from 2007 to 2009 as part of a three-year plan to return the
Auburn Hills unit to profitability by next year.

The job reductions, which amount to about 16% of the Chrysler Group workforce,
call for cutting 2,000 salaried employees and 11,000 hourly jobs, 9,000 in the
Unites States and 2,000 in Canada.
Chrysler said special retirement programs and other termination and attrition
programs would be announced separately.
Maybe they can turn this around?
