As long as the 3" pipe itself is OK, if you are just looking to
quiet things down a bit, I'd just slap a 3" muffler on there. That'd
be the cheapest route I should think. I wouldn't worry about lack of
backpressure, especially on a 360. I run a 3" system on my '96 Dak
with a 318 and have plenty of torque. Even if it did drop the torque
a bit, its not going to be a whole lot, certainly not enough to
replace perfectly good pipes when just inserting a muffler would do
the trick. Depending on the exact configuration, you could probably
cut the pipe coming out of the cat before the messy weld, clamp a 2.5"
to 3" adapter in place, which is welded to a 3" muffler, which is
welded to the rest of your exhaust.

The above assumes that your existing pipes are OK, if you've got to
replace them anyway, then you might want to consider 2.5" systems as
well, but again, I really wouldn't worry too much about any loss of
low end with a 3" single system on a 360. Especially since you still
have the 2.5" cat in place.

BTW, if you do happen to bring the Ram to the BBQ, we can probably
con somebody (ok, probably me) ;-) to help with the install and get it
welded up for you. (Ahhh, free labor!) ;-)
