Good idea with the sand blasting!
Unfortunatly, much of how I do things - I learned from the McGuyver
School Of Engeenering...
Spit, bailing wire, and bubble gum to make whatever I need to work, work.
I was in a hurry to get the truck up and runing and ironically never met
my deadline, despite all my shortcuts.
I hand sanded the covers, and wiped them down real good with acetone. I
took masking tape and masked over the whole ribbed top portion of the
valve covers. So I didnt have to bother with the machined look on the
top... I didn't paint over it to start with.
I wanted to do it up in red... (whatever was machined bare I wanted to
detail paint in red, but perhaps some day when I have more time to do
the things I want in life, the right way... i'll do them over from scratch.
It seems everything I touch I screw up in one form or another. I just
installed a windsheild on my motorcycle, that was made for a similar
model and it doesnt fit quite right. I have to remount the headlight to
make it work. I damaged one of the mounting pegs and also I scratched up
the plexiglass in the process... @#$%^&*!!!!
Oh well - its not a show bike by any means... a dog-eared windsheild
for a dog-eared motorcycle... fitting..
I'm starting to ramble... whatever...
I better get to sleep...
I need a friggin vacation...
