Dodge did that in 2000 with the 2001 Ram, Caravan and the early introduction of
the new for 2001, the PT Cruiser. Because of a CAFE credit issue, the 2001
models of those 3 lines were introduced before the second weeks of January
2000. Rams built after that point were all labeled as 2001s on their build and
emissions stickers. Later in July of that same year, when they would have
normally released the new model year, they continued with with labeling them
2001, however there were some changes to the model which is frequently
considered a 2001.5 by many if the build date was after July 1 2000. The
addition of rear disks was one of the one of the changes.
