I disconnected the battery, reconnected , and now the engine idles and will
go in to gear. I think it fixed.

The crankshaft error code went away but the engine still starts but does not
idle or rev up.

If you look at it from the rear, it's at 2PM on the bellhousing, just below
the lower right of cyl no, 6. Biff

I could not find a sensor anywhere around the harmonic balancer pulley.
Where is the crank sensor? Is it in the distributor?

That's correct. Upon initial key-on, the fuel pump will pressurize the
system but then will turn off. The vehicle needs to be running in order for
the pump to stay running. (PCM needs to see engine RPM via the crank sensor
to keep the fuel pump circuit active.)

I don't think it runs all the time, just pressures up and ready for start.

My 96 3.9 dak will start but will not run. I hear the fuel pump come on
when I turn the key and after a few seconds the fuel pump stops. The relays
for the fuel pump and auto-shutdown are still energized after the fuel pump
quits running. When the fuel pump is running it has 45 psi. What can be
shutting off the fuel pump?
