There really isn't anything for minimum pad thickness (only minimum rotor
thickness), rule of thumb is no less than 10% of the actual pad thickness.
>From an eyeball point of view, roughly no less than 1/4" thickness of the
pad (just the pad - not the metal backing). There are the wear indicators
(metal tabs on the pads) but those can be deceiving as I've seen them either
bend or break off - leaving the owner at either metal to metal contact
before they notice or very close to that (overheating the rotors and warping
them pretty bad).

Subject: DML: Pad/shoe minimum thickness?
Maybe I'm just being blind (likely), but I can't seem to locate the
specs for minimum brake pad and brake shoe thickness in the FSM. (2000,
4x4, ABS, etc.)
Anyone know off hand?
There seems to still be a fair amount of meat left on my Hawk pads after
almost 40,000 miles. I'm hoping that what my eyes see is really true.
Thanks,
-Bill
