You can't and shouldn't mix up the caps...the rods are a one piece design
and then the caps are "cracked" off.
If you order the rod, you get the matching cap automatically - do NOT grind
them either.

Saw that in a thread discussing the 4.7 and I didn't want to hijack the
thread for a rather tangential question. The engine in my '04 Ram has
the same type of rods, although not a 4.7. Is there somewhere that has
the "how/why" on these? Sounds interesting.
