damn... i was hoping for plug-and-play. guess i'll look for a small MSD
tach to mount on the steering column.

While it may plug in, the circuit configuration is different. Odometer IS
kept in the cluster - PCM keeps track of mileage for the emissions timers.

anybody know if the cluster from a 2000 Dakota (4.7L with the 7k RPM limit)
will plug into the stock harness for a 98? my new cam raises the power band
on my engine to about 5800rpm, and I found a cluster that would work, but I
want to know if it'll plug in before spending the $70 on the unit.

also, I would imagine that the odometer on the truck isn't kept by the gauge
cluster, but by the PCM or some other tracking unit, right?!

thanks,
