RE: Ground problem

Just run a jumper, even battery jumper cables will work...from your trailer
to a good ground, (like the bumper), to your truck. If this makes things
work right, then it is a ground problem, just make yourself a new ground.

The first place I would check is in the trailer wiring harness. I was
going to say that even before I read that you saw different behavior
with a trailer on... Both at the connector and at the harness.
