you can see spent some quality time at allpar.com today...

you are correct - the 545RFE is basically a 45RFE with an additional
overdrive gear, still retaining the two options for a 2nd gear.
Basically a transmission with 6 forward gear ratios.

Honestly I do not remember where I heard those trannys described as
sluggish on downshifting - I had thought it was here on the DML...
because I immediatly thought of Corey Atterbury's Gen IV when the topic
came up - - lol
