Personally, I like either red rags or lighters. Bic lighters are especially
fun in Diesel fans. ;)

The shade tree test for clutch fan operation is to take a long piece of
stiff cardboard and when the engine is running at temp shove it into the
fan. If the clutch is good it will quicky chop the cardboard to bits, if
not the cardboard will stop the fan.
