Those are my thoughts as well. While the aftermarket gaskets "may" be
cheaper...the Mopar gasket pays for itself after the first ATF change. Over
tightening - big no-no (leaks happen quickly..especially with those cork or
thin rubber gaskets).

Dan, I thought I told you once before to get the Mopar reusable trans pan
gasket. No sealer ever needed, can be used over and over, no mess to clean
off! Perhaps part of the problem you're having is your mechanic
overtightened (or worse yet, stripped) one of your pan bolts. They only
take 13 ft/lbs.
I can understand your leak only occurring at night/cool weather. Things
shrink when they're cooled. Hope nothing is really screwed up.
