I swapped the speakers on my 2000 (that came with the Infinity system)
almost right away. They worked fine (still work fine -- 8 years later,
knock on wood), except for the drivers rear that is starting to crap out.

I can't remember for sure, but I think I swapped out the factory head
unit first. Either way, just about everything in the stock Infinity is
done in the amp. I seem to remember, though, that after removing the
stock front speakers, the tweeters no longer worked. Seemed odd to me
-- since the harness for the front speakers has only two wires (so how
would they have wired in a crossover integrated with the speaker?). Oh
well... the entire factory system (except for the amp, which I swore I
was going to replace...) is long gone. Still wouldn't mind putting in a
better amp, but finding one that fit properly was always a pain.

Now that I only drive my Dak a few times a month, it hardly feels worth
pouring money into an amp. I'm more concerned with just keeping it running.
