With most any of the radiator sealers, you'll risk plugging up either the
radiator core and/or the heater core. You can get the heater core for about
$70-$80 from NAPA and it's really not that hard to swap out (if you don't
mind removing a dash, recover/recharge the A/C system, and spend a weekend
with your neighbor drinking and BBQ'ing). ;)

Bypassing it for the summer definitely won't hurt anything.

Subject: DML: Firewall Coolant Leak

I have a 99 Dakota and recently noticed a little antifreeze on the ground
where I park. I traced it to a small outlet on the firewall (passenger
side). I'm assuming it's the heater core. I hear the cost to replace it is
outrageous. It is worth trying something like Bars Stop Leak first or would
I potentially be doing more harm than good? I hear mixed opinions on this. I
even heard black pepper works on ocassion. This is a bad time for a big bill
so I'm looking to buy a little time. I guess since I won't need heat for
another six months I could bypass the heater core if I had to.
