The valve lash adjusters on the 2.0 SOHC are hydraulic and I know they
can stick and clatter. I'm thinking the noise I'm hearing from my 96
Neon is due to shot lifters.
I dont have my FSM handy right now - I loaned it to a guy doing a head
gasket R + R on another Neon... whats involved in changing those
critters out? I'm trying to see if I can get that engine to last a
little longer. Its not burning oil that I can tell - so even with a
little blow by I'm thinking I can get it to last this summer.
I took the rocker shafts off my old SOHC head in the garage (knew there
was a reason I saved it) but I couldnt figure out how to get the damned
lifters out of the rocker arms... do they even come out? Do I need to
buy new rocker arms?
