Normally, the 3.9/5.2/5.9L engines do not have a gasket (from the factory)
in between the manifold and block. So, if there's a "ticking" noise and
there's black soot around the port - it's leaking. Felpro makes an
inexpensive gasket kit for them.

Subject: DML: clicking noise ideas

i've got a '99 3.9 v6

im not car savvy, but this is all i got for a description.

there is a clicking noise in the engine.. sounds like a leak between
the engine block and where the exhaust manifolds headers whatever ..
connect. i believe there is a gasket in between there but don't know.

i can feel air coming from it, so tat's my leaning toward a gasket ..

- it is hard to remove or fix?
- any quick fix to seal it ?
- is there an easy to remove the heat guard or whatever that piece of
metal shield is that covers the exhaust pipe coming out of the engine ?

thanks
