Raise the engine slightly, bolt both engine mounts to the engine, and then
lower it back down - much easier than trying to fight the two pieces. Been
there many times.

Subject: DML: Engine Mounts (still!)
These things are a pain in my $$$. My hands and arms are thoroughly stained
from this job and the under-engine grime and oil. My co-workers ask what
I've been up to (they're not phased by my oil-stained hands... that's
typical... but they do ask what my latest project is). When I tell them
motor mounts, they say "on that old thing!? is it worth it? just get a new
truck!"
they just don't understand.
Ok so the problem now is that the new motor mounts are much wider than the
old ones and definitely don't fit into the bracket on the frame as-is. They
*are* the right mounts, however. The inner sleeve (for the
thru-bolt) is almost a half inch too long and the isolator is also too
thick. Even the outer sleeve will be a tight fit requiring some coersion
from my BFH. So I have two options. 1) bend out the brackets on the frame.
2) grind down the inner sleeve and some of the isolator.
Seems modifying the mount a bit is my best option. I don't want to
comprimise the strength of the bracket welded on the frame.
Thoughts??? Has nobody done this before?? Obviously the FSM/Haynes writers
haven't. "Installation is the reverse of removal" jerks.
Thanks!
