Hey all...Thought i'd let u know whats been going on. Last month(June 3rd),i contracted a nasty leg infection, called "Cellulitis"..It started with a scratch on my right calf, and within 36 hrs,i was sick with flu symptoms, plus my temp yo-yo'd between 99.0 and 103.0..
2 days later,i went to the Doctor, and the nurses said i was dehydrated, and tried to get an IV in me...
They tried for 4 hrs, couldnt find a vein, and caused me so much pain I cried like a baby..Yes,it hurt that much!
So they sent me home to drink 2 gallons of water, including Gatorade. The next night,my temp was 104.F. My wife took me to the Hospital, and i was admitted & in my room about 3 hrs later..They got an IV in my left hand, and i had the Infectious Disease specialist from the Dean Clinic (Dr. James Levin) checking me out...
As i stated before, they discovered it was "Cellulitis",which is a serious & life threatening illness. In fact,Dr. Levin told me had i waited an extra day to get in the hospital,i'd be dead!. (The infection made my foot,up to 4 inches from my groin,as red as a McIntosh apple..and thats red folks!..
I was in the hospital for 7 days,on IV antibiotics, taking blood from me every 4 hrs, getting blood thinning shots in my lower stomach(ouch)..Oh,while i was in the hospital,my Doctor(Marshall M. Fields)found out i have "Arrythmia" of my heart,so i'm on "Cumidin" (a.k.a. Rat Poison) for my heart..(i see the Cardiologist next week). Out of the hospital,i was on 10 days of IV anti-biotics,plus oral anti-biotics up until last weekend...
Basically.i have a 2nd chance at life..But my right leg is 25% larger than my left leg..It may take 6-12 months to go back to normal, and they said i have to be careful,as one scratch and i'm re-infected..
Just thought i'd let u all know how i'm doing...and the Dak just turned 131,000 miles....
