Interesting that you should ask this question right now. I too have a
1999 4x4 5.2 liter Dakota, mine has the 5 speed manual transmission.

Like three months ago, I had a Magnaflow high flow cat put on my
truck. However, I had him upgrade it from the factory size of like
2.5 inches to using a three inch in/out cat with a three inch diameter
pipe from the Y-pipe to the cat and from there it uses a reducer to go
from the 3 inch cat back to the factory 2.5 inch pipe to a 40 series
Flowmaster utilizing the factory tailpipe.

Roughly one months after all of this was installed, my check engine
light came on. I don't recall the exact code it throws, it is for a
bad catalytic converter though. The check engine light has turned off
twice since then but came back on within a day after each time.

I'm going to be replacing the o2 sensor after the cat in hopes that it
is fouled up or just plain old. I mean, the truck does have 137,000
miles on it! If that doesn't make the light go off, I'm not sure what
I'll do. I mean the only other option is to replace the cat with a
non high flow unit I guess.

Anyone got any suggestions for my particular problem?

The sound with this particular combination of exhaust parts is just
plain intoxicating!
