Absolutely. But maybe not. On my first Gen I, it was the Hall effect plate
in the distributor. It did exactly that.

My '95 acted just like that a couple of years ago and it was the cam
position sensor. It could still be under the plate, but it won't look like
the Gen I pickup plate. Biff Byrum
