You can get t'stats that allow a higher volume of coolant (and pressure) -
Stant makes them (Robertshaw used to). Improved cooling can also be
achieved via a slightly lower temperature rating...but not too much cooler
(no gains under 180-185 - they actually run too rich and either turn the MIL
on and/or loose power).

True. Whenever people talk about improving cooling, though, i
assume they mean the temp is above the tstat setting.
