You'd have to experiment to see if it was beneficial or not, but
unplugging the upstream O2 sensor will force the PCM to run in open
loop. I don't know that this would help you out too much though
because the truck automatically runs in open loop at WOT (racing
conditions), and forcing the truck to run in open loop under normal
idle/cruise conditions will negatively affect your fuel economy and
may hasten the demise of your catalytic converter since the truck is
programmed to run rich in open loop.
It might be a fun experiment to do though... Unplug the O2 sensor
some morning, and see if that extra "AM horsepower" sticks around any
longer than before. I suspect that your extra ponies are due to the
physics aspect of a cold engine as opposed to differences in spark or
fueling by the PCM, but it shouldn't hurt anything to give it a try;
might be educational. :-)
