What about grafting a 160amp Jeep alternator into the system...wouldn't be
the first time someone has done that. And it's easier. Also, make sure
you're running 1 or "0" gauge wiring from the battery to the main grounds
and alternator power feed - the factory wires are just too small for higher
amp requirements (such as with 1000W+ stereo systems).

That might be a good idea, but then you have to consider small
diffs in the regulators. They might control the voltage so that
one alt is doing all the work, and the other is putting out
no current behind the diodes.
That may be ok, though: you'd sort of only be using the one until
it couldn't handle the current, then the other would start helping.
