Vacuum Ports 4.7L V8

Hi to the group!

I have just recently joined the list and have just recently purchased
a black 2001 Dakota Sport Club Cab 4x4 with the 4.7 litre V-8,

It was mostly a daily driver for the previous owner and hasn't seen much
4x4 service. It also has the AWD option.

The CEL was on at all times when I bought the truck, owner said it was
a "gas cap" problem. I cleared the P1494 code with my OBDII scanner and
the code reappeared the next day. Later on I found that the vacuum port
fitting at the base of the throttle body had no hose or cap on it.

I plugged this hole off with some tape and this cured the CEL problem.

I'm now has left me wondering if there ever was a hose on this port or if it
was capped off and the cap just disintergrated and fell off over the
years.

There apparently was supposed to be an under hood sticker on the
unit showing the vacuum lines layout diagram for the engine
but it is missing.

I have also consulted the shop manual and it does not have a
useful vacuum diagram or any illustrations showing the
vacuum connections on the throttle body.

Would anyone on the list be able to tell me if this port was
intended to be capped or have a picture of the under hood
sticker for the vacuum lines layout on this engine?

TIA

Fred Allen

PS Really like the truck, rides great and lots of power.
