Ah. I didn't realize there were two different consoles (I'm more
familiar with the GenI/II and we only get a single console.) :-) I
checked the FSM again, and found a reference to a "floor console" as
opposed to the "seat console" which I sent you earlier.
Unfortunatley, the only diagram is of how the console mounts to the
floor, and the bolt locations; there isn't a detail of the latch. I
suspect the latch mechanism is probably the same as the other console
though. If you want the diagram of the floor console, just let me
know and I'd be glad to send you a copy.
If you do manage to break something, you may be able to get a
replacement lid and/or latch out of a junkyard or off eBay or
something. Unless of course you can fabricate whichever part you end
up breaking, I'm guessing that would be the catch. I'm not even sure
if that's steel or plastic in the GenIII. Even if it does end up
being some sort of crazy injection molded plastic which would be too
much of a hassle to recreate in steel, there are some good plastic
glues out there nowadays so you might be able to patch it together,
after fixing whatever is causing it to lock shut, of course. :-)
Sorry that I couldn't be of more help!
