No it will not, my 98 4x2 318 did the very same thing. The plastic
part of the shifter broke and I have it all taped and clamped back on
also. I also got the $40 price and just rigged it back up, but there
must be a pinched wire in it now cause it will try to disengage the OD
if I hit the shifter the wrong way. Just have not had the time or the
steady hands to fix it lately.
