Barry, its not as complicated as one might think. If you buy an aftermarket
fan of the appropriate size they usually come with installation
instructions. There are also wiring kits available.
I've used SPAL fans for about 13 years and have had zero issues. Check out
the SPAL site for ideas and wiring harnesses whether or not you buy one of
their fans. This is a link to one of their wiring harnesses and the .pdf
file on this page is the instructions.

They have other kits with various temp sensors and they have an adjustable
controller as well. I suspect their harness for their most powerful fan
would be more than adequate for any OEM fan you used from the junkyard.
Don't freak at the prices as you can find cheaper at other vendors.
