try to catch the outer lip to pound it in. you may scratch the outer
surface so use some RTV around the outside to be sure it seals.

you should have checked for pinion play before you took it out in case
the seal was a symptom of something else (bad pinion bearings). also,
the Mopar rear ends (and most others) use crush sleeves to set pinion
preload, so technically you should remove the pinion, put in a new
crush sleeve, and readjust pinion preload after you do this. instead,
just be very careful retightening and don't crush it further, but be
sure to seat the pinion all the way.
